ALL BASICS FOR STABILITY PRINCIPLES
-
Description: In a run of All Basics the student focuses all of his/her mental attention on the deeper programming of the Stability Principles.

Purpose: To gain an even deeper understanding, and programming of the Stability Principles through the use of Spiritual.
-
Reminders: Keep your attention on being bottom heavy. Visualize your connection to the ground. Locate your soul in the center of the body and run it from there. Project downward, using your Spiritual Abilities. Be stable.
ALL BASICS FOR GROUND POWER
-
Description: In a run of All Basics the student focuses all of his/her mental attention on the deeper programming of Ground Power.

Purpose: To gain an even deeper understanding, and programming of Ground Power.

Reminders: Keep your Stability Principles happening. Pull the energy of your base up and out through your striking limb and out towards the opponent. Move the energy by flowing your attention where you want it to go. Feel stable.
ALL BASICS FOR STRIKING PRINCIPLES
Description: In a run of All Basics the student focuses all of his/her mental attention on achieving in full the specific elements of the Striking Principles.
Purpose: To better understand and program the basic enhancement to the student’s form, from each element of the Striking Principles thus ensuring proper striking ability with further practice.

Rooting
Reminders: Root in your stance at the same time that you make contact with your strike. -
Retraction
Reminders: Pull the weapon back before the rest of your body rotates. -
Momentum
Reminders: Feel your body move in the momentum step. Add a momentum step in occasionally. -
Penetration
Reminders: Drive the weapon in deep. Let your energy continue to penetrate well past the physical strike. -
Explosions
Reminders: Make your kiai loud. Let your energy peak outside of your opponent’s expectations. Peak with your energy and with your muscles. -
Compensation
Reminders: Lean your center into the direction of the force feedback. -
Create the Desired Force
Reminders: Create a cause level and flow that energy into your body. Imbue your body with the energy from the cause level. -
Transfer the Force
Reminders: With each attack transfer that intention toward your opponent. -
Depth to Maximum Resistance
Reminders: Strike to the point of maximum resistance. Retract as soon as you hit maximum resistance. -
Loose to Potential
Reminders: Keep your muscles loose for speed on the throw. Mobilize at maximum resistance to the desired potential. -
Physically/Spiritually Peaking
Reminders: At the moment that you make contact mobilize all you muscles and max out your cause level. Peak to an energy level outside of your normal range.
ALL BASICS FOR BREATHING

Description: In a run of All Basics the students do two runs for breathing, one run for practicing full breath, and one run for geared breath.

Purpose: To practice and program the proper breathing techniques of Kenpo Karate.

Reminders: On the full breath, breathe all the way in, and all the way out. On the geared breath, breathe according to the amount of energy you are physically kicking out.
ALL BASICS FOR SPACE

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a space larger than their opponents.

Purpose: To practice and program imbuing the body and then the space around you. The creation of space is practicing the essence of extroversion.

Reminders: Locate in the center. Fill your physical body with your attention first. Then, from the center, project your attention out and around you. Create above you especially.
ALL BASICS FOR PROJECTION

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates and projects a high speed force wave onto their opponent.

Purpose: To practice spiritual projection to push the opponent into their head and thereby force their opponent’s introversion.

Reminders: Project from your center onto your opponent. Attack the opponent with your Projection. Push him up into his head. Force him to introvert.
ALL BASICS FOR CONNECTION

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a connection to their opponent.
-
Purpose: To practice spiritually connecting to the opponent using ones attention to hold to the opponent’s soul.

Reminders: Create your space. Use your projection to connect to his soul. Do not let your opponent disconnect from you. Hold his attention.
ALL BASICS FOR ENVELOPMENT

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a suppressive envelopment over their opponent.

Purpose: To practice spiritual envelopment to smother and suppress the opponent’s soul.

Reminders: Encompass the opponent with your flow of attention. Bear down on him from all sides spiritually. Suppress the opponent's soul by smothering him spiritually.
ALL BASICS FOR SENDING A DISRUPTIVE EMOTION

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a disruptive emotion and sends it with his/her projection onto the opponent.

Purpose: To practice spiritually making your opponent feel an emotion that confuses and disrupts his ability to respond.

Reminders: Create the emotion strongly. Project that emotion to the opponent. Make him feel that emotion.
ALL BASICS FOR SENDING A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE YOUR BLOW WILL DO

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a picture of the impending damage and then sends it with his/her projection wave to the opponent.

Purpose: To practice spiritually making the opponent introvert by sending a vivid picture of the impending damage.
-
Reminders: Create a vivid picture of the impending damage. Include the sounds, reactions, and pains your opponent will experience. Project the picture to your opponent. Make him see the picture.
ALL BASICS FOR SENIORITY

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a seniority greater than the opponents.
-
Purpose: To practice spiritually placing yourself in a position of authority over your opponent.

Reminders: Find a real reason to consider yourself senior to your opponent. Use that position to put him to effect faster.
ALL BASICS FOR CAUSE LEVEL

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a cause level greater than the opponent’s cause. The default cause level for a Green Belt is willing to maim.

Purpose: To practice spiritually creating a cause level and dominating your opponent with it.

Reminders: Create a cause level greater than your opponent’s. Be willing to accept any and all consequences involved with that cause level.
ALL BASICS FOR PRESENT TIME

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually brings in his/her full attention to the drill at hand.
-
Purpose: To train the student to bring all of their attention from the past and future into the present time so that it can be used to aid in battle.

Reminders: Pull all of the attention in from the past. Pull all of your attention in from the future. Pull all of your attention into the present time. Direct all of your attention to the task at hand.
ALL BASICS FOR PHYSICAL FIGHTING POTENTIAL

Description: In a run of all basics, the student brings to bear his/her full fighting potential physically.

Purpose: To program the student with an ability to move at full physical potential in any fighting situation.

Reminders: Hit your potentials. Make sure you feel that your physical would be overwhelming in a real fight. Don’t stop discovering new, and greater potentials.
ALL BASICS FOR NO WIN DOMINATION

Description: In a run of all basics, the student spiritually creates the state of No Win Domination.
-
Purpose: To program and train the student to give the opponent No Wins, even if he may deserve them. To program the student to be resolute never showing that the opponent effected him/her in any way.

Reminders: Don’t give your opponent any wins. Be unaffected by any successes he may get during the fight. Keep your chosen cause level at all times. Show the opponent that you are not moved by his intensity or ferocity. Dominate him by giving him no wins.
ALL BASICS FOR BEING SPIRITUALLY UNBREAKABLE

Description: In a run of All Basics, the student creates him or herself appropriately.

Purpose: To program the spiritual ability to be unbreakable.

Reminders: Create the energy of being unbreakable. Solidify your space. Lock your Cause Level. Create the solidity of being unshakeable spiritually.
ALL BASICS FOR CONTROLLING YOUR FEAR
-
Description: In a run of all basics, the student focuses on the first step of the path.
-
Purpose: To train a student to not let his/her fears dictate his/her actions in training and in regular life.
-
Reminders: Identify where you’re scared. Don’t let your ego stop you from admitting where you’re scared. Don’t move from a fearful place. Don’t let fear create you.
TECHNIQUE LINE
-
Description:
1st Stage: A regular technique line in which the coach attacks the student and the student responds with application steps and full potential attacks.
2nd Stage: In an attack back technique line the coach steps up and attacks the student. The student begins a good potential Technique Line. The coach responds with more attacks trying to throw off the coach.

Purpose: To practice and program the basic package of the Green Belt level in the Technique Line format.

Reminders: Keep using your application steps. Watch your full potential movements. Be sure to apply the basic package of the Green Belt level.
GRAB LINE
-
Description:
1st Stage: Grab line begins normally using the Principles of Grabbing. Once the coach has released the grab, the student proceeds through a normal technique line at the appropriate Green Belt gradient and potential.
2nd Stage: Grab line proceeds normally, however once the grab is released the coach begins an attack back technique line at the appropriate gradient and potential.

Purpose: To practice and program the basic package of the Green Belt Level in the Grab Line format.

Reminders: Use your grabbing principles. Once free use your application steps. Keep everything to the appropriate potentials. Apply your basic package.
KENPO SPEED DRILLING
-
Description: Using Hands Only Drill or Technique Line, the student focuses on the creation of their classic Kenpo hand strikes and movements.
-
Purpose: To practice and program the aesthetic and speed of Classic Kenpo movement.
-
Reminders: Relax your muscles to emphasize your speed. Overwhelm your opponent with rapid, precise movements. Concentrate your attention on speed rather than power.
FIVE-STAGE DRILLING
-
Description: In a Technique Line the student practices the Kenpo fighting strategy.
1st Stage: Student stuns the opponent with 1-2 fast strikes with the cause level of willing to fight.
2nd Stage: Student strikes the opponent with 1-2 fast strikes, but with more potential and power, with the cause level of willing to hurt.
3rd Stage: Student works the opponent with 2-3 potential strikes slowing down the interval to increase the power between each strike, also with the cause level of willing to hurt.
4th Stage: Student maims the opponent with 2-3 strikes focusing on full potential striking, with the cause level of willing to maim.
5th Stage: Student kills the opponent with 1 final strike, with the cause level of willing to maim.

Purpose: To program and practice the fighting strategy of the AKMA, and to have the ability on call on this strategy at a moments notice in a fight for your life.

Reminders: Start off for speed more for power. As you finish the stages, increase the interval between each strike and go for more damage. Move to the next stage when you complete the previous one. Create realistic cause levels.
FULL POTENTIAL ATTACKING DRILL

Description:
1st Stage: Full potential drilling is done in a segmented run of All Basics in which the student concentrates on their potentials in each and every attack. The instructor sets the interval between each strike in seconds. As the student gains experience, the instructor drops the interval until the student is moving in a combination of full potential attacks.
2nd Stage: Full potential drilling begins in a segmented run of Technique Line in which the student concentrates on their potentials in each and every attack. The instructor sets the interval between each strike in seconds. As the student gains experience, the instructor drops the interval until the student is moving in a combination of full potential attacks.
3rd Stage: Full potential drilling begins in a segmented run of potential striking against a free standing, or hand held bag. The instructor sets the interval between each strike in seconds. As the student gains experience, the instructor drops the interval until the student is moving in a combination of full potential attacks.

Purpose: To practice and program the elements of full potential attacks.

Reminders: Strike at full potential with every attack. Keep the interval that set by the Instructor. Watch your striking principles. Breathe. Keep your basic package up.
FULL POTENTIAL DEFENDING DRILL

Description:
1st Stage: Full potential defense drill is done in the shadow sparring format. The student practices full potential defensive movements against imaginary attackers.
2nd Stage: Full potential defense drill is done with the coach squared off against the student. The coach attacks at an appropriate potential while the student works on the elements of proper defense at full potential.

Purpose: To practice and program the elements of full potential defense.

Reminders: Defend at full potential. Watch your blocking angles. Use proper parrying technique. Use your distance control as often as you can.
SPARRING LEVEL 5 TECHNIQUES
-
Description: Students face each other down in their fighting stances. On the command of begin, they start sparring utilizing levels 1-5. Level 5 is totally uncooperative.

Purpose: To program the ability to spar with your Kenpo while utilizing the techniques of Sparring Levels 1 - 5.

Reminders: Create and utilize your basic package. Spar uncooperatively. Be effective in all of your movements. Move with full potential in Offense and Defense. Create your Seniority. Create an appropriate cause level. Create your no win domination.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL MASS ATTACK

Description: In shadow sparring, the student practices the physical and mental principles of a mass attack encounter.

Purpose: To practice and program the physical elements of a mass attack.

Reminders: Don’t let the physical space collapse on you. Maintain an orientation that you are fighting all of the opponents at the same time. Use anything you can as a weapon. Physically eliminate the weaker threats first. Finish off any opponent brutally and effectively. Fight as few opponents at a time as possible. Breathe and be efficient with your movements by sharing your blows. Disengage from the mass attack at the first moment you are able. Clear the scene. Keep any mass attack encounter as short as possible.
COMBAT VIEWPOINT DRILL

Description: While facing one another, Coach and Student practice perceiving out creating their opponent in terms of their Stability, Speed, Power, and Cause Level.

Purpose: To teach the student to out create the opponents Stability, Speed, Power, and Cause Level, and thereby be in control of them.

Reminders: When going through the different categories, the student should feel weaker than the coach first and then immediately out-create them. Watch your connection to the ground during stability. Watch the opponent’s energy level when looking at speed. Watch the opponent's muscle tension when looking at power. Perceive their cause and out create it with an energy higher than theirs.
FULL POTENTIAL FORCE TRANSFER DRILL

Description:
Stage 1 – Precision: Student throws full potential strikes and kicks at a coach locked into a Horse Stance. The Instructor calls the target, the student executes the full potential attack to the appropriate target on the coach.
Stage 2 – Penetration: Student practices penetrating to the point of maximum resistance on a bag.
Stage 3 – Explosion: Student practices rapid retraction by snapping their hand at the moment of maximum resistance.
Stage 4 – Transfer: Student practices the release of their energy into a hand held bag.

Purpose: To practice full control and effectiveness, while delivering full potential attacks. To develop a control over contact and force transfer at full combat speed.

Reminders: Make sure your strike lands directly onto your target. Project your focal point so as to not make contact. Drive your hand into the point of maximum resistance. Once at maximum resistance, peak your strike, and retract outward. Transfer the energy out through your arm.
DISTANCE CONTROL DRILL

Description: While the coach is down in a horse stance, the student performs full potential strikes stopping at a distance from the target set by the instructor.
-
Purpose: To practice and program the ability to strike at full potential while stopping at whatever distance the student must. To learn to control precisely one’s full potential attacks.

Reminders: Project the target’s focal point out so that the carry over lands at the distance set by the instructor. Make full potential attacks regardless.
RESISTANCE DRILLING
-
Description: Bags of varying densities are laid out on the floor in order of highest to lowest density. The students kneel in front of each bag and practice pushing their fists to the maximum density of the bag. Once they have identified the density of the bag they begin striking the bag to maximum resistance with the fullest potential strike they can throw.

Purpose: To practice and program the perception to feel where a target's maximum resistance is, and explode and retract at the moment it is felt.

Reminders: Push in as far as you can into the bag. When you can’t penetrate any further, explode and retract as fast as you can. Once you’ve tested the maximum resistance of the bag, throw the strikes full potential. At the moment of maximum resistance, physically push in just a bit more then explode.
FOCAL POINT DRILLING

Description:
Stage 1: Focal Point Drilling for Stability of the target. The coach holds the bag. The coach either braces the bag to his/her body in a stable stance, or holds the bag by one hand in an unstable position. The student faces away from the coach so that they can’t see them. When the coach says "Turn", the student turns around, states the appropriate condition for stability, and then strikes the bag appropriately.
Stage 2: Focal Point Drilling for the Density of the target. The coach chooses either the highly dense bag or the low density bag. When the coach says "Turn", the student turns around, states the appropriate condition for the density of the bag, and then strikes appropriately.
Stage 3: Focal Point Drilling for Movement of the target. The coach holds the bag and walks towards the student. The student subtracts from the aim point, and strikes when appropriate. The coach holds the back and walks away from the student. The student adds to the aim point, and strikes when appropriate.

Purpose: To practice and program the student to strike a target in relation to both the targets Stability and its Density.

Reminders: When a target is Stable, strike it deep. When a target is Unstable, strike it shallow. When a target has a High Density, strike it shallow. When a target has a Low Density, strike it deep. When a target is moving away from you, add to the aim point. When a target is moving towards you, subtract from the aim point.
TARGET FLATTENING DRILL

Description: The student stands in an Attention Stance and identifies where his/her physical charge exists within his body. The coach squares off in a fighting stance and supplies full potential strikes to the area identified by the student, without contact. The student simulates the effects of the strike as if hard contact had occurred. Each time the strike occurs the student creates the worst effect possible. Each time, the student recovers faster than the last. Repeat this process until the student no longer feels the stored charge attached to the target area.

Purpose: To flow off any charge stored in certain parts of the body. To flow off the fear programmed into certain parts of the student’s body.

Reminders: Flatten the targets that have the most charge in them. Create the effects of the attacks realistically. Keep doing the drill until all of the stored charge is blown.
PERSONAL CONTACT DRILLING

Description: The student takes a Horse Stance and works on the Spiritual Technique of repelling, while the student works on full potential striking transferring only what the student needs. The gradient for the student is checked first. Then the student closes their eyes, and begins searching for their wins. The drill begins with light protective gear, and then eventually without protective gear.

Purpose: To practice the repel through Contact. To transfer the desired level of force while making a full potential attack.

Reminders: Coaches strike full potential. Students repel regardless of the force. Remember, the student is in control of the gradient. Students can call up or down for the force levels as needed to repel correctly. Coaches strike full potential regardless of the force level you’re transferring. When you close your eyes, search for your win. Don’t open your eyes until you can call win. Your win will be any move up the Cause and Effect scale.
